Nelia DeAmaral, RP
Nelia DeAmaral (she/her), is a Registered Psychotherapist, clinical supervisor and approved brainspotting consultant in the Toronto area, with over 20 years experience. Nelia uses an attachment approach, integrating somatic practices, brainspotting and creativity to help clients explore their inner world. She also earned a post graduate certificate in Creative Writing. Some of her writing can be found in the books, “Joyful Birth” and “Bearing Witness: Childbirth Stories Told by Doulas.”
She has created innovative programs for clients and professionals, combining metaphor, writing and community building, as tools for growth and healing. Her program “Emerging Mothers” is offered throughout the province of Ontario. She also supported the creation of “Brainspotting Through the Poet’s Eye,” a group utilizing brainspotting and writing for fellow therapists.
She recharges by making things out of yarn, watching reality shows with her 2 daughters, and wandering in nature with her notebook and her dog, Maurice. She also plays about 8 guitar chords reasonably well, and is learning to turn her poems into songs.
Jackie Tobey
Jackie Tobey (she/her) is an ordinary person who earned a degree in psychology once upon a time. She devotes her life and energy to using that degree in the context of her strengths and life experiences to love and lift herself and as many other ordinary people as possible. She believes in the true power of unconditional love as the source for all creativity, healing, and growth. She is a hot mess living in the moment, not particularly interested in tracking the stuff typically listed in a bio. However, she is interested in challenging antiquated practices and oppressive power structures affecting human evolution. She encourages you to consider the value of her ideas from your unique perspective, strengths, and life experiences and choose your own evolution. She lives in Michigan among loved ones who enrich her ordinary life and inspire her to keep surviving despite the heartbreaks, injuries, and injustices that make survival feel futile sometimes, and remind her that to thrive is to become old and have fun. She is eternally grateful to nature, family, friends, mentors, clients, creatives, spirits, and strangers for feeding her curiosity and inspiring expressions of creativity and love. Her private practice focuses on helping healers and creatives overcome the heartbreaks, injuries, and injustices that hinder their innate ability to thrive.
