Irish Dhindsa, RP (Qualifying), CCC

My name is Irish Dhindsa (she/her) and I am a Brainspotting practitioner, an author, a psychotherapist, and most importantly a human who desires to cultivate creativity. I seek moments that provide opportunities for curiosity, creativity, emotional depth, and compassion. It is not surprising that I have found my way to becoming a therapist and a writer. As a new Brainspotting practitioner, I am intrigued and pulled by this practice. I am very excited about my growing journey as a Brainspotter both in therapeutic practice with clients and for my healing journey. In my private practice, I work with clients experiencing grief & trauma and the impact these experiences have on their sense of self, identity formation, and relationship with self & others. Brainspotting is a significantly supportive modality that creates strong attunement between the client and therapist, where the client can process their emotional experiences by connecting to somatic sensations, and the therapist provides presence and attunement. This body-brain intervention gives access to deeper insights, enhancing creativity which makes it a wonderful practice for writers, artists, and creatives. I find passion, meaning, and purpose in learning, communicating, supporting, connecting, and creating, which have all been enhanced by practicing Brainspotting! Colleen Klym

Colleen Klym is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, and Brainspotting Consultant with a speciality in children and adolescents along with a bachelor’s degree in Music Therapy. She has a private practice in South Lake Tahoe where she uses a combination of expressive arts including music, art, sand play and play therapy, and Brainspotting to work with adults, children, couples and adolescents using an interpersonal neurobiology and attachment approach. Colleen was first a singer and songwriting and remembers very clearly that she figured out she could use her singing voice to positively impact people’s moods and environments from a very young age. This led to her performing through her childhood whether it was in the living room of her Irish home, on stage, in nursing homes or at restaurants and parties. She discovered music therapy and knew it was her calling to pursue this field of study which led her to continue on and study Counseling Psychology and ultimately have her greatest healing experience with Brainspotting.

Along with her private practice, Colleen is a clinical supervisor at the Infant Parent Center a non profit agency based in Placerville CA. She runs the satellite office in South Lake Tahoe providing mental health services to families and children in El Dorado County from 0-5. She also provides a music program at the local nursing home. She often writes songs improvisationally throughout sessions to meet the needs of her clients and has recorded music focusing on nurturing connection and relationship between parents and young children.

In her free time, she can be found finding reasons to laugh, cherishing moments with her husband and three children outdoors in beautiful South Lake Tahoe or watching her kids find joy in their various activities.
