Jan Santora-Farrar, MA, is a Brainspotter, psychotherapist, writer, and painter living in Edmonds, Washington, USA. She has worked since 1993 with people recovering from trauma. Jan presented in the 2021 International Brainspotting Conference on treating Chronic Loss which she describes as a spectrum of grief from the unpleasant to the unbearable. Chronic Loss can happen for a number of reasons, is specific to an ongoing situation, goes on for long periods of time, and is hard to let go. Among the many examples are a missing child, chronic physical pain, bigotry, caring for a loved one with dementia, or adoption. She is currently writing on how to cope with Chronic Loss.
